A youth exchange offers a group of young people, from different countries, the opportunity to carry out an intercultural coexistence, where they will work on a specific topic of interest. Participants should follow a program of activities on the subject of exchange worked through non-formal and informal education (combination of workshops, exercises, debates, simulations, role-playing games, outdoor activities, visits, etc.).

A youth exchange will allow young people to develop skills, which they themselves will identify to be reflected in the "Youthpass" certificate, which is more than a simple certificate.

In addition, young participants can become aware of social issues, discover new cultures, customs and lifestyles through collaborative and cooperative work among equals.

The European Commission subsidizes this type of activities through the "Erasmus + Youth" program.
